The CZ 457 Varmint is a bolt-action rifle chambered in .22 WMR, with a 20.5-inch heavy cylindrical barrel and a blue finish. It weighs 7.08 pounds and has an overall length of 38.5 inches. The magazine holds five rounds, and the receiver takes an 11mm scope rail. The Turkish walnut stock has an American-style comb and a wide flat forend, and the factory standard model ships without iron sights or an optic.

The .22 WMR chambering suits small-game work and target shooting, and the heavy barrel is built for steady shots from a bench. The stock and forend are set up for a sandbag or rest. The interchangeable barrel system leaves room to change barrel and chambering later, so the rifle can grow with the shooter's needs.
